Lately, I'm in a weird time in my life. I am learning at a hard-to-keep-up-with pace. I'm experiencing, internalizing, and processing in the best way that I can. What about you? How's your season? Sometimes, I think the hardest thing about seasons is actually being present in the one you're weathering at that very moment. It's easy to reminisce fondly on seasons of the past. It's even easier to dream longingly of seasons for the future. But to be present - to fully embrace the season you're currently in, to be alive in it each day, with every fiber of your being, to be present for the people who are actually in front of you right now- that is the hard part. In this season of my life, I am in a whirlwind of learning and growth. While life feels busy and chaotic all around, internally, I feel like a sponge. I am absorbing everything that is happening around me; I am learning SO much about life, relationships, parenting, finances, and my career. On the other hand, I am also realizing all of the mistakes I made in the last too-eager season of my life, in said above categories. I think this is important though. I don't know about you, but while some periods of my life are similar or comparable to others in some ways, no two seasons are ever the same. For this reason, I think it's more important than ever to be present! Yes, our mistakes exist. Yes, often they have REAL, lasting consequences. But I don't think that this means those mistakes and their effects should result in stagnancy, blame, or shame in our lives; they happened in the past, and we are constantly being renewed. We are best serving ourselves, our God, and our seasons when we can take those mistakes for what they are- learning lessons- and to enter our new season boldly and confidently, carrying our newfound knowledge with us. Our lives our always changing. We are always evolving within ourselves; growing, learning, and carrying the lessons of our experiences and circumstances with us. Seasons are a beautiful thing. They refresh us and restore us; excite us and implore us. They remind us that nothing lasts forever, so we should fully embrace the good while we are standing in the midst of it, and that when things are shoddy, well, they won't be like that for too long. The changing of seasons, whether figuratively or literally, serves as a reminder that we are constantly being renewed; that God is working out our salvation within us, and will be until the end. "He appointed the moon for seasons; the sun knows it's going down."
